A long time ago, when I was just leaving college, I was accepted into a School of Fine Arts. At the time, I was a wannabe struggling young artist, however also painfully aware of how little I knew about anything. And so I decided to forgo this wonderful opportunity and instead went to university to study philosophy and politics, with the intention that my art would then be more 'informed'.

 

It was a good plan, perhaps even a necessary plan, but before too long I had forgotten how to draw. Eventually, after many years had passed, I remembered my dream.

 

There seemed only one thing to do, and that was to do what I was going to do all along.

 

But this time, instead of picking up a pencil, I picked up a camera. And now I am learning to paint again, only this time with light. My canvas is a light sensor, and all I need to do is to be at the right location at the right time, looking in the right direction. How simple, not!

 

So now I am a struggling photographer. 

 

Please check back in a while for more, because I am building up a portfolio, and getting into the printing and framing side of things. I'm enjoying getting 'hands-on', being creative again, and loving getting out into the fresh air and capturing the vision that inspires me. Hopefully I can convey some of that to you, so that you can experience it too.
